My time in Eve is broken into two parts. I started playing in 2006 and did so for several years. Then like many of the Playboys, I left the game and never took it back up for about 10 years. When I heard some of the old gang were getting back together, I said “Why not”. The second chapter in Eve has been very different for me with a lot more PvP than I ever did and that reached its peak during our FW with Galmil. So there I was, spinning a plex in a Thrasher Fleet, all by my lonesome. There were a bunch of us, including Khell, on comms. A couple of squids pop into the plex and engage me. I take the fight and actually beat both of them for my first double solo kill. For me this is a big deal because before, I was pretty much a carebear. I let everyone on comms know: “Hey! I just got jumped by two guys and I killed them! How did I manage that?” At that point, Khell spoke up and said “That was because they sucked!” So a brief moment of pride replaced by the cold reality of things by Khells direct explanation. Khell was always a straight shooter and told it like is is.
As others have said, his generosity was legendary. I participated in one of his “IPOs” and made back at least twice the amount I invested. With that, I bought a nice blingy ship that I named “Khells Fortune”. I never got a chance to take it out and now given the circumstance, I may never take it out. Rather, Im thinking I want to keep it in the hangar as a memento of him and everything he did for all of us.
Thank you Khell for everything you’ve done for your friends and corpmates, and for the kind of man that you were. We are all diminished now that you are gone. Rest well.
